Recently, a friend of mine recommended me a phone, which is called "HTC Touch Diamond".
After visiting the website and read the review on it, I have decided to recommended to all readers out there as well.

According to Apple, 1 million IPhone 3G has been sold in just the first week. Woah! 10 million software has been download from the apps store for first 3 days according to Steve Jobs.

I have been very busy lately, and probably will not have time to update any post. Well I found a nice song to entertain all of you. Hope you like it.

After the "Si Chuan" incident that happened about a month ago, countries which are proned to natural disasters became a forbidden place to go to. As we know that it is difficult to prevent a disaster from happening,but we can still predict when it will be coming.

I happened to visit a website which talks about "Handphones which can offer Earthquakes early warning alerts via SMS" a few days ago. The software is named "Area Mail" which can be found in new mobile phones in Japan. The photos below are some examples:

Also,besides sending warnings via SMS, now in Japan, they provides Earthquakes Warnings via Phone calls. This is to ensure that everyone knows about the upcoming danger.

Some companies in Japan adopt new security systems which offers early earthquake alerts as well. One example of such product is the "Earthquake Early Warning System".

How the EEWS is working?

-Earthquake Early Warnings will be provided through various media outlets such as TV and radio.
-Private companies may be able to receive the announcement directly from the Japan Meteorological Agency.
-Individuals could get direct information through a special device
-Mobile phone: Docomo should put on the market special mobile phone designed to receive AMJ alerts from late 2007; AU and Softbank from 2008.

If "Si Chuan" has taken such precautions, many innocent life will not be lost.

CommunicAsia2008

Today, I just went to Singapore Expo for the annual BroadcastAsia2008, CommunicAsia2008, EnterpriseIT2008, and InteractiveDME with Mr Yap.

There were such a lot of new (and foreign, if I may say so) ideas and products, like mobile phones, wired and wireless concepts, as well as broadcasting media types. Walking through Halls 2 - 9, we saw items ranging from big big satellite dishes to small mini UMPCs. Mobile phones with great UIs are coming about, matching the stature of the Apple iPhones.

Unfortunately, the few pictures Mr Yap took aren't with me, so he'll be posting them up soon.

It was a great experience, one that may come only another year later. The knowledge I've gained in this one exhibition is more than words can describe.

AMD's "Puma" & UMPC

AMD has been trying to catch up with Intel in mobile platform. Until recently, they have not been very successful. AMD has recently announced "Puma" platform that utilizes ATI graphics card that allows them to match Intel's Platform.





Well the most interesting part for this product is the it allows user to connect to a external graphic unit. This is known as ATI "XGP" that allows multi monitor support, and better 3D graphics.

If the UMPC would work with the Graphic Booster, that will be of interest to many people. Please note that the UMPC is running on the older platform, so I am just speculating the possibility.

Intel Atom

Recently Intel roll out 2 types of Atom CPU for mobile devices.


There will be 2 version of mobile devices for the new CPU. They are netbook and nettop. The new netbook will sell from USD$250-300. This is meant to get IT to people in third world countries.

Second Life on Mobile

Like to play second life on your desktop? Well you can now play it on your mobile. Vollee just managed to squeeze the client of that game into various mobile platform.

Sony Ericsson recently presented a new phone Xperia X1, which is quite interesting. It is not just only it's look (3" screen with a resolution of 800 X 480, 3 Megapixel camera), it's feel (qwerty keyboard, touchscreen), it's flow (GSM, GPRS, WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, WLAN, aGPS, bluetooth), but also it's heart (625 Mhz CPU and hardware 3D)

SDC Visit

Last week was a busy week. Lots of school and polytechnic events was running at the same time. On last friday morning, we went for a School Discovery Centre Trip. The trip was about Informatics in Youth Olympic Games 2010.


The first stop was about the history of Olympic Games. Then it was followed by the movie Everest. The last part was on upcoming Youth Olympic Games and Informatics for tourist attractions. We also get see to SDC mascot little george who is a smart robot.



By looking at the smile that everyone's face, I think the whole trip was an enjoyable one. Hope you enjoy the photos. Full size photo HERE.

I present you 1 of the coolest mobile phone in the market right now! The Apple iphone!
It has either a 8gb storage or a 16gb storage. It also has a multi-touch 3.5 inch display(480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 ppi). Although it only has a normal camera of 2 megapixel, but it have both bluetooth and wifi built in thus you can connect to the internet easily.

Youth Entrepreneur @ Aljunied and Hougang (YEAH)

Minister of State Lim Hwee Hua was the Guest of Honour at the Youth Entrepreneur @ Aljunied and Hougang (YEAH) Media Launch on 10 May 2008 (Sat) at Junction 8. Our senior MWC student, Nurhanisah participated in the Cambodian dance. We are very proud of her. The following is her story.

Last Saturday (10 May), I got involved in the Yeah Event as a dancer. It was a very fruitful experience for me as I learnt on how to mix with people. At the same time, I felt joy to be able to help the women in Cambodia who are struggling for survival. I am proud to be able to represent the school and learnt a lot of new things in which I could not learn in the classroom. I had to work with the ITE Bishan students and learn more about the Cambodian culture and perform a dance. The Cambodian dance I performed showed the lifestyle of the Cambodian villagers. We did research on the culture and lifestyle of the Cambodians and even managed to lend clothes from the Cambodian Embassy. At the end of the day, I had lots of fun making new friends and learning more about the Cambodian culture.

On Monday 12th May, we were honour to invite a speaker from Nokia to give us a talk on their latest software development - S60 Web RunTime (WRT) environment. This environment provide software developer to easy port any web apps (Widget) to the phone easily. Moreover, it also provide an opportunity to rapidly create new innovative mobile application leveraging on existing skillsets and tools such as Ajax, JavaScript, CSS and HTML.

Are "PSP" and "DS-Nintendo" the improved version of "iRiver U10"?

Hello all!
Came across a website selling a portable MP3 Player name "iRiver U10 hands-on".
In my point of view,
this product seems to be the earliest version of 'PSP' and 'DS-Nintendo'.

This product which is called "iRiver U1o", is lauched in Hong Kong in October 2005.

Basically, it provides the same functions as an MP4 today.
It has :
- an 2.2-inch, 320 x 240 pixel LCD screen
- comes with either 512 MB or 1 GB of memory
- an integrated FM tuner
- "playable games"
- support for playback of MPEG4 video files and MP3, WMA, and OGG audio files.

Prices of it are:
-512MB : $199
-1GB : $249

In Aug 2006, Japan improved "iRiver U10" to have an internal memory of 2GB and the price of it was around US$200.

Ain't technology cool?

From just a small and simple device like "iRiver U10", it has become something more advanced such as 'PSP' and 'DS-Nintendo'.
